Glasgow

The tradition of a Metropolitan distiller, once a feature of the Glasgow scene, is now being reborn with The Glasgow Distillery Company Ltd www.glasgowdistillery.com. Glasgow Distillery will be part of the festival and able to provide us with some 'new make' to show what they are creating. Experts report definite interest with what is developing in the 'new make'. A craft distillery and one of the founding members of the Scottish Craft Distillers Association, Glasgow Distillery is sure to add interest to the festival. The expectation is that cask sales opportunities will be available as part of what they bring to the festival. They also produce a premium Gin with quality botanics.

Glasgow was the UK's second city for part of the Victorian era and in some sources referred to as the second city of empire. The Merchant Spirit of the original pioneers is being reborn in developments like The Glasgow Distillery Company Ltd. Glasgow has world class Museums and Art Galleries such as the Kelvingrove and was the 1990 European City of Culture. Not surprisingly works of Victorian artist Frederick Goodall (who had Grim's Dyke built) are to be found in Glasgow museums.

In 2014 Glasgow featured very favourably in sporting circles from its hosting the Commonwealth Games. Our Whisky Scouts were fortunate to be introduced to some of the Gold Medal winners from Scotland, whilst on a visit to the Highlands.
